Editor: David McAlpine Cunningham (david@thebandber.com)

I was born in Ayrshire and educated at Glasgow University where I studied English and Scottish Literature. After that I spent a number of precarious years as a bookseller and freelance journalist. I’ve worked in travel for eight years, mainly as web content developer and editor for the hotel booking companies Hotels By Phone, Just One Hotel & Freetobook.

My short stories have appeared in various magazines/anthologies (most recently the London Magazine and NLP) and have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4. I have also published two well-received fantasy novels: CloudWorld (Faber & Faber, 2006 ; nominated for the 2007 Manchester Book Award) and CloudWorld At War (2008; acclaimed as “a heart-pumping tale set in a vividly-imagined world” by William Nicholson, the best-selling author and Oscar-nominated screenwriter of Shadowlands and Gladiator.) 1. Thank you for finding us here at CarrHouseFarm and following us on Twitter. I would just like to say how much I have enjoyed reading through your website. It is always good to listen to everyone’s views and on the way learn a bit too. Wishing you all the best for the future. Kind Regards Anna

  2. Have you experienced a drop in bookings via LateRooms recently? If you are channel managed (eg. via Freetobook) then you most certainly have. LateRooms decided that they needed to switch servers immediately after Easter and this has caused some technical difficulties that they are still trying to address. The result is that whilst establishments collectively show vacancies, individually the establishments show as being full! Therefore prospective guests will move on and thus establishments will lose out on future bookings during this problem! Would you not have thought that LateRooms would have modified their systems at a quieter time in the holiday calendar, not at the start of the season when the run-up to bank holidays and the summer attracts a high volume of customer traffic!! And would you not think that LateRooms would post a notice on their website informing us of any disruption to their service that would impact on our bookings! Thank you Late Rooms!!
